How we Achieve This...

Temperature As Steady As A Rock

Until now, thermostatic shower mixer valves have been designed to handle temperature variations and moderate supply water variations but not sudden pressure peaks or troughs. Pressure controlled TMV3 approved shower mixer valves on the other hand have been designed to cope with fluctuating pressure but not fluctuating temperature.

FM Mattsson are the first manufacturer in the world to create a TMV3 approved shower mixer valve combining the control of temperature and pressure in a single cartridge. This means that no matter what happens in your house plumbing system the mixed water temperature in your safety shower will remain constant. We are the only manufacturer that will guarantee the performance of our safety shower mixer valves.

Always in Control Of Hot Water Temperature, Always Smoothing The Pressure Peaks

In every system there are only 2 factors determining the stability of the mixed water temperature in a TMV3 approved shower mixer valve: the pressure and the temperature of the feeding water.

If both temperature and pressure are steady you can use any mixing valve and enjoy a consistent even mixed water temperature.

The problem is that this is a perfect system which does not exist in the real world. Instead the mixer itself has to be prepared for "Come What May".

The FM Mattsson Mixer is prepared.

It can handle both pressure and temperature variations instantly and in its stride, delivering a constant temperature at the shower head regardless of what's thrown at it.

Worlds First Solution to "Water Hammer"

All FM Mattsson taps include the world patented "Soft Close" mechanism. All other taps available have a major limitation in that they can be shut off instantly.

This dramatic rapid closing effectively causes a massive spike in water pressure which results in the familiar banging sound in the water pipes.

This is known as "Water Hammer". These massive pressure spikes can be in excess of 40 bar or pounds per square inch. Normal pipe work is not designed to take such levels of pressure and as such often fail at joints or in extreme cases split completely.

The knock on damaging effect of these pressure spikes on the complete water system in a building can not be underestimated and is responsible for £0000s in repair and maintenance bills and in some cases insurance claims.

FM Mattsson have solved this problem by developing the "Soft Close" mechanism which with the aid of a patented piston effectively shuts the water supply off in a controlled manner regardless of how quickly the user tries to shut off the supply.

This avoids any risk of uncontrolled pressure spikes and consequent Water Hammer and damaged pipes. Resulting in less noise, maintenance and repair bills and insurance claims.

In addition to the Soft Close mechanism all FM Mattsson taps are fitted with:

• Ceramic Discs which eliminate dripping taps.
• Water Baffle which eliminate water hissing.
• Water Conservation Control Disc which can be set to reduce flow to as low as 5 litres per minute.
• Water Temperature limiter control which can be set to a predetermined temperature so as to avoid any chance of scalding and is child safe.

Anti Scald Protection for Your Children

As is illustrated by the graph, it can take as little as 2 seconds for an infant to receive 3rd degree burns from a low quality shower unit. With this in mind all FM Mattsson mixers are fitted, as standard with anti scald protection.

This takes the form of our patented thermostatic & pressure balanced safety shower mixer cartridge which if for any reason the cold water supply fails the supply to the showerhead is terminated instantly (0.02 sec) thus avoiding any chance of scalding.

This anti scald protection is backed up with child tamper proof switches fitted to the mixers temperature control knob. This ensures that even the most resourceful children cannot by accident or by fiddling increase the temperature of the water above a preset safe limit.
